8 teens from St. Paul Chung, 3 Adult Crew Leaders, and 2 Contractors had a successful WorkCamp. WorkCamp is a program hosted by the diocese where this year around 650 teens came to serve the less fortunate within our diocese to be safer, drier, warmer. There they worked in projects such as roofing, decking, and flooring during the mornings and in the evenings had fun with programs filled with praising, listening to testimonies, playing human version of Angry Birds and other games. As a stakeholder, I couldn’t be more proud for our teens, who gave up their day to day life filled with comfort to help others in need.
I could see Christ in our teens and the teens showed that they were sharing God’s love. It was truly fitting for this year’s theme of “Do this in remembrance of me” - 1Cor 11:24.

Before WorkCamp, I was just a Sunday regular. I showed up for mass every Sunday but I didn't get anything out of it. WorkCamp greatly opened my relationship with God and gave me a sense that I have great worth and that he cares for me very much.
It also gave me a sense of how greatful I should be for all the blessings I have in my life that others do not have. Definitly an eye opening experience and something I will come back to next year.

Kevin Henkes once said, “Sometimes all you can say is, ‘Wow’.” That is the quote I would use to describe my WorkCamp experience. Words can not describe the feelings and experience I had. From the happiness of helping the needy, the emotional praising and adoration, to the secret party in the boys showers, Work Camp is probably going to have to be the highlight of my Summer.
CYO consists of around 20 students; out of those 20 students, only around seven of the 20 from our parish participated in the 2022. While 13 of my peers were at home with hot showers, comfy beds, tasty meals, and technology, I was out and working in the blazing sun and thunderstorms. Even so, I had not a single hint of jealousy within me during workcamp. Even though I was going through such hardships and uncomfortable situations, I found joy in what I was doing. Due to the fact that our parish only had seven people participating, we all drove to workcamp in two vans while other parishes were coming in buses. Something that I really thought a lot about was how little presence our parish has compared to other churches at the camp. Something I want to see next year during workcamp is to see more people from our church; I want others to feel what I did this past week.
